Quality Control (QC)
Definition
Quality Control is the process of checking whether products comply with the agreed specification, technical requirements and approved reference sample.
Quality Control can be carried out at different stages of production. Depending on the type of product and the nature of the order, it may include inspections during production, inspection of finished products before shipment, quantity checks, verification of packaging, markings and documentation.
One of the most important elements of quality control may also be comparing the finished product with the previously approved Golden Sample.
Why Should Importers Know This?
Quality Control makes it possible to identify problems while the goods are still at the factory. This is a major difference compared with discovering defects only after an entire container has been delivered to Europe or the USA.
In the event of non-conformities, the manufacturer may have the opportunity to correct the product, replace defective units or resolve problems before shipment.
Quality Control should not be treated simply as checking whether a product “looks good”. A professional inspection may include dimensions, materials, functionality, quantity, appearance, packaging, markings and other parameters previously specified by the importer.
It is also important to remember that Quality Control does not replace thorough supplier verification. The safest import process combines Supplier Verification, Quality Control and a clear product specification.

Quality Control should be planned before production begins. Depending on the type of product, it may include an inspection during production, an inspection of finished goods before shipment, and verification that the products comply with the approved Golden Sample and order specification. Detecting a problem before shipment gives the manufacturer the opportunity to correct it without the costly need to return the goods after delivery.
