Alibaba.com is one of the world’s largest global B2B platforms, connecting businesses with manufacturers, suppliers, and trading partners. The platform is particularly strongly associated with the Chinese market, although companies from many other countries can also be found there.

Alibaba allows businesses to compare offers, communicate directly with suppliers, send requests for quotations, and negotiate order terms.

Why Should Importers Know This?

For many businesses, Alibaba is one of the first places where they begin searching for manufacturers. The platform can make sourcing significantly easier and allows importers to quickly compare a large number of potential suppliers.

However, being listed on Alibaba.com does not automatically mean that a company is a genuine manufacturer or that the supplier will be the right business partner.

The platform includes both actual factories and trading companies or other intermediaries. Information presented in a supplier’s profile should therefore be independently verified.

What Should You Check?

Before placing an order, it is worth checking the company’s experience, production capabilities, export history, certifications, references, and whether the information provided by the supplier corresponds to the actual business.

For larger orders, independent supplier verification and quality inspection are particularly important.
